The Grounds
The grounds are a great delight of The Green House. Although we are in a quiet neighborhood, the surrounding rose and lilac hedges and protected woods create a sense of an enclosed world that includes a celtic garden and a stone circle. The courtyard between the studio and the guesthouse is a special feature, and just one of many spaces for gathering for meals and conversation.

The Green House Residence
The Green House was originally a log home built in the 30’s by Swedish settlers. The substantial larch logs make it easy to heat in winter, and keep it cool in the summer. They are covered over except in the entryway and downstairs suite, where they are shown off to great advantage. The 3000 square foot home has been fully renovated, with all new plumbing, electricity, and beautiful flow-through layout. Among the features are:

The Office is a 15 X 20 building located separately from the guesthouse and studio, and convenient for administration and public purposes without disturbing the ambience of retreat.There is also a large garden shed, kiln shed, and separate studio building.

I began creating the Green House in 1991 as an art & retreat centre, and it is a wonderful space for such use. Then I got involved in ecological design and local economies, and the Green House became a learning centre for exploration of what a Green Village would be like.
